Nilfisk was founded in Denmark in 1906 by Peder Andersen Fisker (1875-1975) and Hans Marius Nielsen (1870-1954), as Fisker & Nielsen. Initially, the company produces electric motors, as well as key components in fans, kitchen elevators, drilling machines, and later and components motorcycle Nimbus. Nilfisk produced the first vacuum cleaner Nilfisk C1 through 1910 GS weight of only 17.5 kilograms, which can be used by only one person! At this time, other cleaning machines were huge and it took three or four people to use them. This innovation from Nilfisk can be defined as a revolutionary. Fisker patented their product and shortly thereafter bought works by Nielsen in the company. Until 1954 vacuum cleaner fought any competition in the market for sales. Are registered sales of over 1 million units during that period and because of the huge success Nilfisk waive the production of other components.

Nilfisk is growing slowly and successfully in the coming decades, but this development is accelerated enormously in the years after 1980. In 1989, NKT Holding buys Fisker & Nielsen. In 1994, Nilfisk Advance Machine Company purchased and in 1998 Nilfisk A/S was renamed Nilfisk-Advance. In 1998 Nilfisk-Advance merged with Euroclean / Kent between 2000 and 2011, Nilfisk-Advance acquire CFM, ALTO, Ecologica, US Products, Viper, Hydramaster, Egholm, Plataforma, DENSIN and Jungo making the Nilfisk-Advance one of the largest suppliers of professional cleaning equipment worldwide.
